Safely Transport Cargo

    If you have a large load that needs to be transported, here are some tips that can help. First, measure the dimensions of your cargo in advance. Make sure everything will fit within the load capacity of your vehicle.

    Place foam, blankets, furniture pads, or other padding on the vehicle to prevent scratching. Wrap any cargo items that might get scratched as well.

    Keep heavy loads as far forward as possible. Secure the items in the truck, using bungee cords, ratchet straps, or rope.

    If you are carrying any cargo that extends more than three feet beyond the back of the vehicle, tie or attach a red flag or bandana to the back of the item. This will serve as an alert to other drivers.
